Woman held as cannabis haul found

Cannabis plants worth an estimated quarter of a million euro were seized from a house in Carlow town

A woman has been arrested after the seizure of cannabis plants believed to be worth a quarter of a million euro.

Drugs detectives uncovered the haul as part of a planned raid on a house in Carlow town.

A garda spokesman said: "Most of the plants were fully grown and found in the upstairs of the house."

The drugs have been sent for forensic analysis.

A woman in her mid 40s was arrested during the operation on Wednesday.

She is being detained at Carlow garda station under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

The search was carried out by members of the Carlow drugs and detective units.
