Viable pipe bomb found in garden

Homes in the Northwick Drive area were evacuated while army bomb disposal teams made the device safe

A viable pipe bomb has been found in the garden of a house in Belfast, police have said.

A number of families in the Northwick Drive area had to be evacuated while army bomb disposal teams made the device safe.

A spokesman for the PSNI said the security alert had ended and the device had been taken away for further examination.
