Three men arrested over shop raid

Gardai are investigating an armed robbery at a shop in Clondalkin, west Dublin

Three men have been arrested after an armed robbery at a shop.

The Centra store on Tower Road, Clondalkin, west Dublin, was held up at around 8am on Sunday.

A gang of three men armed with an imitation firearm and knives threatened staff during the incident.

They made off on foot with a quantity of cigarettes and cash.

A short time later, three men were apprehended and arrested near the scene by uniformed gardai who were in the area.

An imitation firearm, two knives as well as cash and cigarettes were recovered.

Investigating gardai said a car believed to have been stolen earlier in the Lucan area and used in the incident was also found.

The suspects, who are all aged in their 20s, are being held at Clondalkin Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

A Garda spokesman said: "There was no reported injures and the investigation is ongoing."
