The trio were arrested after a Centra store on Tower Road, Clondalkin, west Dublin, was held up.

A gang of three men armed with an imitation firearm and knives threatened staff during the incident at around 8am on Sunday.

They made off on foot with cash and cigarettes. No injuries were reported at the shop.

Three men, all aged in their 20s, were apprehended a short time later near the scene and arrested by uniformed gardai.

An imitation firearm, two knives, cash and cigarettes were also recovered.

Investigating gardai said a car, believed to have been stolen in the Lucan area earlier and used in the incident, was also found.

The men were being held at Clondalkin garda station before they were charged this morning.

They will now appear before Blanchardstown District Court on January 24.
