Teenager in hospital after shooting

An 18-year-old has been shot in Dublin

A teenager has been shot in Dublin.

The man, 18, was taken to St James Hospital after the attack on a footbridge at the Memorial Park.

It is understood the victim is from Ballyfermot.

Gardai appealed for witnesses who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious near the footbridge on the Con Colbert Road side of Memorial Park at approximately 3pm on Sunday to contact Kilmainham Garda Station.

A man, aged 19, has been arrested over the shooting in Dublin.

He is being detained at Kilmainham station.

A police spokesman said: "The injured man remains in a critical but stable condition in St James Hospital."

Gardai said they would particularly like to speak to anyone who was at Memorial Park at the rear of Liffey Gaels GAA clubhouse or at the cross over pedestrian bridge on the N4 at around 3pm, or passing motorists who may have noticed anything suspicious.
