Robber takes rings from OAP fingers

A man stole wedding rings from an elderly woman at her home in south Belfast

An elderly woman had her wedding rings pulled from her finger during a robbery at her Belfast home, police have said.

The pensioner was woken by a man who stole two gold rings and ripped two gold necklaces from around her neck.

The incident happened in the Donnybrook Street area of south Belfast during the early hours of Monday morning.

A spokeswoman for the PSNI appealed for anyone who is offered gold jewellery under suspicious circumstances to contact detectives at Musgrave Street PSNI station.
