Probe into council worker's death

A 59-year-old council worker died after being hit by a car in Maynooth, Co Kildare

The death of a council worker who was hit by a car while carrying out roadworks is being investigated by Gardai.

The accident happened at Graiguesallagh in Maynooth, Co Kildare at about 3pm on Wednesday.

The 59-year-old victim, a Kildare County Council worker, was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Forensic collision investigators carried out a technical examination of the scene and the Health and Safety Authority was informed.

Gardai in Maynooth have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
