A major cannabis haul intercepted in Northern Ireland has taken the value of drugs seized in the region in the last nine months to almost £14 million.
The bagged resin discovered in a vehicle near Hillsborough, Co Down, on Thursday night was itself worth around £1 million.
A 49-year-old man was arrested at the scene - the Hillsborough Road roundabout on the A1.
Detective Chief Superintendent Roy McComb hailed the latest seizure.
"We have seized a significant quantity of cannabis resin on this occasion, adding to our other drugs seizures across the year," he said.
"The criminal gangs who sell this deadly product prey on their communities and we are working to disrupt them at every turn.
"We have taken these drugs off the street and have made our communities safer as a result.
"The community support that we are receiving in the face of organised crime gangs is vital as we make the world a smaller place for drug dealers.
"We will continue to work with communities and partner agencies in this jurisdiction and beyond to reduce the threat posed by drugs."
