Online firm HQ to create 125 jobs

Fergus O'Dowd said Ireland is 'the perfect place' for US-based technology companies to locate their international operations

Some 125 jobs are to be created after an online comparison shopping company sets up its international headquarters in Ireland.

Nextag, the largest independent operation of its kind, will base itself in Drogheda and take on the staff over the next five years.

Fergus O'Dowd, junior minister, made the announcement of the investment, which has been backed by development and enterprise agency IDA Ireland.

"With the support of the IDA, we are proving to be the perfect place for US-based technology companies to locate their international operations," he said.

Nextag is part of the Wize Commerce Shopping Network and runs websites in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and the UK.
