Man held in bus crash death probe

A suspect has been arrested over the death of a man who was hit by a bus in Dublin city centre

A suspect has been arrested over the death of a man who was hit by a bus following an apparent roadside altercation.

Gardai said a man in his 20s was detained on Friday afternoon and questioned at Pearse Street Garda Station.

A spokesman said the victim, who suffered severe head injuries, has still not been identified.

A post-mortem examination was due to take place as investigators began examining CCTV of the incident in Dublin city.

Witnesses who saw the collision at the busy junction of Dawson Street and Nassau Street at around 5.40pm on Thursday were urged to come forward.

It is understood that onlookers saw two men arguing near the junction just before the incident.

Dublin Bus, which has had to divert several routes because of road closures due to the probe, is also investigating.
