Man dies in hospital after being knocked down last Christmas
A 27-year-old man has died after being knocked down in a hit-and-run last Christmas.
Gardai said Callum Grimes, known as Cal, from Rush, Co Dublin died in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin last Friday more than six months after the incident.
He was hit by a car on the R128, Skerries to Loughshinny Road, Co Dublin in the early hours of Tuesday December 27.
It is understood he had been out with friends in Skerries on St Stephen's Night and had been walking home after being unable to get a taxi.
Mr Grimes was found at about 8.30am near Loughshinny but it is believed he may have been lying on the narrow coast road for several hours before being discovered.
Gardai renewed their appeal for information in relation to the incident.
Officers said they are particularly anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen a Blue Volkswagen Transporter Van with the registration starting 06-C on the night.
The van is said to have left Strand Street in Skerries some time after 1.30am on December 27 and travelled towards Loughshinny.
