IMB to investigate sale of illegal steroids in Dublin shops

The Irish Medicines Board is to investigate the sale of illegal steroids in a number of Dublin stores.

The investigation follows several claims from a number of former school-rugby players that these products are very popular in schools.

The supplements, which contain anabolic steroids can be harmful to the liver and heart if not used properly, are not licensed by the IMB

A number of well-known rugby-schools in the Dublin area have said they do not encourage or tolerate the use of such products.

Last October, the IMB launched a nationwide investigation into 500 possible breaches of medicine-licensing laws by shops selling certain body-building and weight-loss supplements
