More than 30 people had to be evacuated from their homes in Baldoyle in Dublin in the early hours of this morning after a gas main ruptured.

Dublin Fire Brigade responded to a call that there was a fire at the side of a house in the  St Domhnach's Well area and when they arrived found a wheelie bin on fire which had in turn set fire to a domestic gas meter.

A number of houses were evacuated shortly after 4am as a precaution until the mains could be made safe.
