Bin trucks destroyed in fire attack

Six bin trucks were set alight at the City Bin Company in Dublin

Gardai are investigating an arson attack which destroyed six bin trucks in Dublin.

It happened between 10pm and 11pm on Friday night at the City Bin Company premises on the Greenhills Road.

Gene Browne, chief executive of the City Bin Company, said collection services would not be disrupted.

He said: "We are still in a state of shock after these events and we would urge anyone with any information to come forward. We are grateful that no-one was injured during the events.

"We are 100% confident that this will not affect our service the people of Dublin.

"We have been operating in South Dublin County Council since 2007 and just recently entered the Dublin City Council market, and we can absolutely guarantee our customers, old and new, that their service will be uninterrupted by these events.

"It is business as usual from Monday morning".
