Belfast driver hijacked at gunpoint

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward

Police are hunting a gang after a man was hijacked at gunpoint in Belfast.

The victim was in his car in Ligoniel Road in the north of the city when he was targeted at about 5pm on Thursday.

A man jumped into the passenger seat and forced the driver to go to Elmfield Street, where he was forced out of the vehicle by two other men.

The car, a silver-coloured Ford Mondeo, was found burned out in Jamaica Street at about 9.30pm.

A PSNI spokesman has appealed for witnesses to come forward.
