AFTER the debacle of Euro 2012, Poland was arguably the last team Giovanni Trapattoni wanted to see but tonight’s friendly match gave an opportunity for some fringe players to stake a claim.

Cormac Byrne gave a blow-by-blow account of the impact made by the likes of Wes Hoolahan and Ciaran Clark in a much-needed win.
