Ashley Young: Watch six of the best ‘dives’

MAN United midfielder Ashley Young is a talented player but he has acquired a terrible reputation as a diver.

Here we pick six recent moments in which he’s accused to trying to fool the ref.

Vs Real Sociedad, November 5, 2013

Young wins a penalty when a run across the box ends  in the player spinning to the ground  after what appears to be a mild tug on his arm by Sociedad midfielder Markel Bergara.

 

Vs Crystal Palace, September 2013

Kagisho Dikgacoi gets sent off for a tackle inside the box on Young but many observers feel the United player stumbled and fell himself.

Young had earlier been booked for diving after a clash with Dikgacoi – the ref was unimpressed with Young’s theatrics and brandished a yellow card.

 

Vs Chelsea, October 2012

In a frantic chase for the ball with Branislav Ivanovic, Young falls to the ground with minimal contact from the Chelsea star, who promptly gets a red card.

 

Vs Aston Villa, April 2012

Dribbling in the penalty box, Young tries to skip by Ciaran Clark but hits his outstretched leg and leaps into the air dramatically. He won a penalty.

 

Vs Man City, October 2011

James Milner sticks out a leg as Young goes flying past on the wing and the United man crumples to the turf. But replays from other angles show there was minimal contact.
