This is one of the most iconic images of the most recognisable face in the literary world, WB Yeats.

Yeats was born on this date 151 years ago, in 1865.

He was an Irish poet and a driving force behind the country's literary revival. He also served as an Irish Senator.

Among his achievements, Yeats founded the Abbey Theatre and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923.

He was born in Sandymount and spend a lot of his childhood in Co Sligo.

This image is undated. Researches are not sure of the date or the location of this image.

However, the simple portrait of Yeats remains one of the most iconic images of the literary giant.
